JASON WRIGHT - Biography
Wright’s most recent series, “ HEARTLAND ” is a departure from the mixed-media style of his earlier work. Instead, it re-examines in a new light the traditional take on knife painted landscapes. Research for Wright’s art comes from his many passions, one of which includes being a professional action sports athlete, that have led him on journeys around the world, from the deserts of the United States to the farmlands of New Zealand. His passion for life and his unique view of the world are ever-present in his emotionally driven paintings.
Using brilliant, expressive colors, and bold knife strokes, Jason Wright creates startlingly
haunting skylines and dream-like landscapes. Layer by layer, he provides just enough detail
in his play on the theory of shelter and landscapes to set his paintings apart from the
rest of the palette knife painters on the scene today.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Jason Wright was born in the United States (1975). He studied Painting and Graphic Design at the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, DC. Jason was immersed in art from a young age, illustrating and designing graphics for the surfing, skateboarding, and snowboarding industry. Apart from his current body of work, he is an accomplished mix media painter, as well as a medaled action sports athlete. His current work focuses on the theory of shelter, and explores the relationship between the simplistic shape of a home and it's ever presence in our lives, his work is generally rendered in a dusk, dawn, or full moon setting.
